Greetings to fans, press and other readers. This season has continued it’s trend of real highs and lows, and we are going to tell you all about it in this edition of Velosipedska News!
---TEAM NEWS---
Last time we wrote this, Velosipedksa were looking for a doctor and a mechanic to strengthen our team. We are happy to report that we’ve found both. Atanas Todorovski will support our riders and lead our medical department. Dr Todorovski is specialized in athlete recovery, so we hope to achieve top form in our riders as often as possible.
To ease the burden on Velovski’s dad Zoran Velovski, we have hired his neighbour Ismet Ilijoski as a mechanic. A St. Clement of Ohrid University of Bitola graduate, Ismet will bring some much needed expertise to our equipment management. After our recent spell of bad luck with crashes, we were hoping to increase rider safety, but Ismet seems to be mainly concerned with speed. When asked for a small interview for this newsletter, he replied that he would be busy today in an effort to strap small rockets on Aksentiev’s back. More on this project in a later edition.
Finally, after the end of our sponsorship deal with 5AM Coffee, we have secured a deal with Easy On Health Products. They have supplied Aksentiev and Nikolovski with much needed items to aid their recovery after their crashes. We’ve invested part of the gained money in new aero helmets for our team.

---RIDER NEWS---
There is not much rider news at this moment. We are still looking for Macedonian talent (cycle by our Skopje HQ or join one of our talent days across Macedonia if you are interested!), but currently no youngster is involved in our training program.
More positive things to note are the 20th top 9 place for Riste Nikolovski, and the very first victory of Metodija Aksentiev. More on that in the Race News section.
---RACE NEWS---
Race results have been a mixed bag these past few weeks. At the end of our last press release we were looking forward to several preparation races. We enjoyed some success with a solid 8th at Festival de Jinotega (This was Riste Nikolovski’s 20th top 9 for our team), and 7th at Valais Valais. Metodija Aksentiev also pitched in after his injury, gaining a podium place at Kota Bahru - Kuala Terengganu.
After that, however, things took a turn for the worse. In preparation for Oryx, Riste raced in The Forever Race, where he suffered a nasty crash. He was injured until just a few days ago, ruining his plan to reach top form in Oryx. This means our captain will not be able to be at his best for our main goal this season - defending the YC jersey in Namibia.
To end on a positive note, however, we are happy to report Aksentiev’s very first victory in professional cycling; he won Valcea - Sibiu on day 55. Metodija was quoted as saying: “I didn’t expect this at all, I aimed for 5th or 6th, but suddenly I was in the lead!”. We would like to congratulate Metodija on his victory, we are sure there are many more to come!
Finally, we are glad to report that we will participate in Odyssey of the Oryx. Since Riste will perhaps not be in top shape, our goals have changed somewhat. Riste will be supported in the mountains by road captain Gjorgi Beqiri. Riste might not be as strong as last year, but perhaps he can surprise us and himself and challenge for some top 10’s. To increase our chances at success, we decided to bring our sprint train as well. Metodija and his bunch have been building towards a great train, with the captain himself fully recovered from last month’s injury. The train consists of new guy Nderim Bogatinov, big guy Borislav Velovski, and veteran Cedomir Ivanov, who managed an impressive 9th place in last year’s time trial. He will of course be allowed to go full gas this year as well.
There might not be many Macedonians in Southern Africa, but we hope to see as many fans as possible there to cheer us on!
Kind regards and thanks for reading,

They truly are! I think they will be remembered as the first wave of Macedonian talent. Let's hope they inspire some insane talent to be generated ;)
Riste ans Metodija are the two catalysts of the team !
